Verity watched her co-worker seated across from her with undisguised annoyance. Everything about the young man bothered her. If it was one minor irritating habit she’d do her best to ignore it. What could she do when everything about the guy grated on her nerves?
He looked over at her smirking as he caught her eyes glaring at him. A silly grin spread across his boyish face no doubt assuming she found him irresistible. He smacked his lips together as he put a handful of sunflower seeds in his mouth. Click. Clack. Smack. Slurp. The pile of wet saliva soaked shells grew on his desk.
Verity averted her eyes cringing each time the cycle repeated. Everything about eating sunflower seeds was repulsive to her. Perhaps the worst part was the pile of disgusting shell husks dripping with spit. Resisting the urge to shove the bag of uneaten seeds down his throat she moved to the window hoping Garrett would arrive just a little early for their dinner date.
“Want a piece?” he asked holding a pack of gum out to her. Shaking her head she took her seat again relieved to see the massive pile of empty shells were gone. Her relief was short lived as she gave her co-worker a nasty glare as he began to chew his cud. Squish, chomp, pop… could he do anything with his mouth shut she wondered.
Up down up down it was like she was mesmerized by the rhythmic motion of his mouth. Shaking her head she tried to concentrate on her research while doing everything she could to squelch the urge to strangle him.
Smirking he got up to sit on the corner of her desk “I know what you need. I’ve seen you staring at me.” He stuck his tongue out showing her his tongue ring “I could demonstrate how this will drive you wild.”
She jumped as she noticed Garrett approaching her desk his eyes simmering as he directed his attention towards the young man “it must be hard with your sense of direction never being able to find your way to a decent pickup line.” The boy frowned up at him forming a comeback he didn’t get a chance to say as Garrett continued “if anyone is going to drive my wife wild with amazing tongue action it’s going to be me.”
